| Is it Dyslexia? |
Dyslexia varies greatly from individual to individual. Problems with reading and spelling are the most common signs, but will usually be accompanied by other problems as well as special abilities. Dyslexics usually excel in some areas while being deficient in others. Most of these strengths and weaknesses originate from the same cause disorientation.
The Davis methods are highly effective for solving problems with writing, math, attention focus (ADD), hyperactivity (ADHD), coordination and speech. Ron Davis has developed specific procedures and exercises for all these areas. At the Davis Dyslexia Correction Center, each student's program is custom tailored to address the person's unique needs. Here are the signs we ask about when we assess someone in order to see which problems need to be addressed. You're welcome to print it for future reference. Or, if you like, you can use this as an informal assessment by checking the boxes. Then it can be processed and printed. Just rate each description according to how accurately it describes the person you're concerned about (or yourself). For adults, estimate any past school problems as closely as possible.
You will be filling out five pages that list different characteristics. Check one of the three boxes for each item.
